REBELS SET FREE ACHOLI PRIME MINISTER

The Acholi Cultural Institution Prime Minister Mr Ambrose Olaa and eight of his colleagues, who were abducted on Tuesday by South Sudan rebels have been released.
Their release on Thursday follows the intervention of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), World Vision that took lead in the negotiations of their release.
Acholi Premier Olaa was abducted with eight others from Yambio County in Gbudwe state in south western South Sudan by unknown rebel group while on field work. He had been doing a consultancy work on peace building with World Vision International.
The Deputy Prime Minister Acholi Cultural institution Mr Emmanuel Lagedo, told Northern Era on Friday that Mr Olaa was freed on Thursday after a peaceful negotiation. “Mr Olaa and eight of his colleagues have been released from captivity, they are free and safe,” Mr Lagedo said.
Acholi Parliamentary Group Vice Chairperson also Woman Member of Parliament for Nwoya district Hon. Lilly Adong lauded UN mission in South Sudan, World Vision and other stakeholders for choosing to talk peace that saw the safe release of the abducted persons . Ms Adong tasked the rebels to consider peace dialogue as the only option of having everlasting peace in the region. “War has never yielded any fruit in any country apart from losing what is already in place, time is now that the conflicting parties talk peace,” she said.
