Man, 36, commits suicide in gulu

A 36-year-old man on Friday morning killed himself from his house in Kati-kati Ayom village, Oitino parish, Bardege Division, Gulu Municipality.
According to police, Phillip Ochaya, the deceased, told his father and relatives the day before the incident, that he would commit suicide anytime.
The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema, told our reporter that Achaye died when he was being rushed to St Mary's Hospital Lacor in Gulu town by his relatives.
The officer in Charge of Criminal Investigation at Gulu Central Police Station, Ronald Were, said preliminary investigation also indicates that the deceased was developing a mental problem, and his wife had abandoned him with an unspecified number of children.
Were however said the police are trying to find out the real reason Achaye committed suicide.
There have been dozens of suicide cases registered in Acholi sub-region in the past few years.
Psychiatrists attribute such cases to post-war traumatic stress.
According to local officials, Koro sub-county in Omoro district has the highest number of suicide cases. While in Koch Goma sub-county, Nwoya district, more than 70 suicide cases where reported in the last three years.
