Eight people have been murdered on separate instances in Gulu municipality, since the beginning of the year.
According to police reports, the deaths resulted from mob actions, domestic violence and night attacks by unknown thugs.
The latest victims of a mob justice were two suspected motorcycle thieves; Samuel Peter Opiyo and John Kaunda, who were lynched early last week.
Another victim, and Sunday Okello, was found dead over the weekend in Iriaga Village, Bardege division.
The Aswa River region police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema told Journalists that the deaths were registered between January and February 17.
Okema noted that although the cases do not show any threat to security in the district, residents should be vigilant and avoid moving at night.
He added that police are still stuck with the body of an unidentified person which was found in an abandoned house in Customs Corner, Layibi division, a week ago.
Okema said police has not arrested any suspect in connection with deaths.
“…residents must endeavor to protect themselves and report suspicious individuals to security agents,” Okema said.
“We still have illegal guns in circulation, but we appeal to the public to help us report to the police individuals they suspect are carrying guns,” he said.
